A True Story - God's Faithfulness
A True Story - God's Faithfulness
I thought you might all be encouraged by this story. It is a true story.
The Lost Ring
There was this man, a Christian man, who was active for his age. He loved to be around the water participating in water sports. This man had been married for over thirty years to a wonderful woman who he loved and cherished very dearly. She had given him a wedding band on the day they were married and he almost never took it off. It had great significance to the man as it was symbol of the vows he had made over thirty years ago.
One day he was down at the beach with his buddies waiting for wind to blow in order to participate in his favourite sport. All the guys were excited - the weather forecasts indicated that the wind would start to blow over 20 knots! Nothing was happening so everyone was catching up on what was new in each person's life. Then suddenly the tree leaves started to rustle and sure enough out on the lake there was a wind line. With great excitement guys were pulling out equipment from their cars and setting up in order to have fun on the water. He was excited too! And for good reason. Very quickly, the wind came up and the man and his friends had fun on the water for about 3 hours.
After finishing up the man came back to his car, got change and went to get his wedding ring from the change compartment in the car. The only time this man would take his ring off was when he was out on the water participating in sports. Hmmm. The ring was not in the compartment where he always put it. As he searched further he came to the realization - the ring did not seem to be in the car!
The man was upset! The ring had great value to him and for what it symbolized for him and his wife. The thought of going home and having to tell his bride that he misplaced the ring deeply troubled him.
"God" he cried, "You know where it is. Please help me to find it!" The trouble was he could not remember putting it into the compartment like he normally did. As he drove home he did not relish the thought of having to tell his bride that the ring was not on his finger like usual.
Search after search occurred through the car in the next few days in addition to a couple of trips down to the beach to look in the sand. In the meantime he talked with his bride and told her of the fact that he did not know where it was.
"You've just misplaced it. It will turn up. God knows where it is." she said full of faith.
A few days went by and again there was a windy day forecast. Right after work he went to the beach - but there was no wind. He wandered around on the beach looking for his ring. Not seeing anything, he prayed
"God if my ring is on this beach, would you bring it to the surface of the sand so I can find it!"
But still no ring. He went home and had some lunch planning to go back to the beach later.
Later in the day, the man decided to go to the beach to see if the wind was blowing. It wasn't. However the man thought, "This is a good time to check the car again for my ring."
He checked and checked under the seats and carpets. No wedding ring. Then a friend named Adam showed up. He too was hoping that the wind would come up. But no wind was happening.
Adam asked the man, "So did you find your ring?" What did your wife say when you told her?"
"No I haven't found the ring. My bride was very understanding about it." said the man.
"Wow that's a bummer" said Adam and "You're lucky that your wife is so understanding!"
"Yes I am very lucky she was so understanding about it." said the man.
The man and Adam were busy talking about all the different places they had been to chase the wind to participate in sports when the man looked down at his feet. There in the sand was a small golden glint of polished gold! Could it be? Was it the much sought after, prayed about, cried out to God ring the man was looking for?
"Hey look at this!" said the man as he bent down and picked up that shiny golden piece of metal. It was the much sought after ring!!!!!!
The man threw his head back and roared with laughter and joy and said "Yes God!"
His friend Adam said, "Wow are you ever lucky!" Adam doesn't believe in God and did not want the man to talk about God.
"Adam," the man said, " This is not luck -This is an answered prayer from God!" Adam then said "Well I still think it was luck"
The man then texted his bride with the wonderful news that God had been faithful, and shown his mercy, grace and love for His son by bringing the man to exactly the right place to stand, his head at the right angle to see the buried ring and had kept it from being stepped on or found by someone else so the man could find it.
The End
If you haven't guessed by now
- the sport the man liked to do was kiteboarding
- the beach was at Frenchman's bay
- the man in the story was me
- the bride was Brenda
I would like to testify of God's faithfulness, mercy and grace. I lost my wedding band last Wednesday when I was at the beach at Frenchman's Bay when in my excitement to start kiting I dropped it on the beach. God revealed where it was today and it now back on my finger!
Praise God!
Ken
